An-Najah National University inaugurated its international
voluntary summer camp which will continue for three weeks with
the participation of about 20 international volunteers from
different parts of the world.
Prof. Maher Natsheh, Vice University President for Academic
Affairs, in his welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony of the
camp, appreciated the efforts of international volunteers
through joining the camp.
The event is organized annually by Zajel International Youth
Exchange Program of the Public Relations Department. Prof.
Natsheh also pointed out the importance of enhancing and
encouraging exchange initiatives. He also briefed the
participants on An-Najah National University, its faculties and
various academic and community programs.
Mr. Ala' Abu Dheer, Acting Director of Public Relations
Department and Coordinator of Zajel International Youth Exchange
Program, talked about the importance of organizing international
voluntary camps for local and international students to enhance
communication, understanding, and dialogue to bridge the gap
between different cultures.
Mr. Amjad Rifai, Director of Community Development Center at
Askar Refugee Camp, talked about the importance of organizing
such important projects to the serve children at the Palestinian
camps. He also noted that there is a need to communicate with
the world, and to be open to other cultures.
The International and local volunteers will participate in
workshops on cultural exchange and academic and humanitarian
activities. The program will also include field visits to
different Palestinian cities and towns. The opening ceremony
included poetic recitations from Mr. Sami Kilani and Mr. Saed
Abu Hijleh. The ceremony was concluded by musical interludes.
