Study Tour for a French Delegation hosted
by An-Najah
In co-operation with the Ministry of Higher Education, the
University organized a study visit for thirty French visitors from
different parts of France. The Delegation was hosted by the Public
Relations Department, represented by its Director, Mr. Saed Abu
Hijleh, who spoke about the university, its programs and its
latest developments. He also spoke of the Israeli violations to
the university's right to education, which was recently violated
by the killing of one of its students who died two days ago on a
checkpoint. He mentioned that the total number of the university's
causalities had reached 46 students in five years. He thanked the
French people for their continuing support to the Palestinian
cause and highly appreciated the attitude of the French People and
their government toward the Palestine question.
A PowerPoint presentation was screened by Zajel Youth Exchange
Program; its title was: “Palestinian History and Culture since
1930". It highlighted the important phases of the Palestine
question, the Ottoman Era, the Turkish Mandate, the Jewish
immigration to Palestine, the War of 1948 and the War of 1967.
A tour to the old city of Nablus was organized, in the company of
the volunteers of Zajel as well as the students' council members,
where the French students had the opportunity to see the cultural
and architectural sites of the old city of Nablus.
Another tour was organized to the refugee camp of Balata, where
volunteers witnessed the conditions of the refugees and the
sufferance they are going through since 1948. |
